Warner Robins, Ga. – The Georgia Collegiate Athletic Associate (GCAA) recently announced the 2023-2024 Division 1 Men’s Basketball awards which names Central Georgia Technical College (CGTC) freshman, Emmanuel Jones as the conference’s Player of the Year.

Jones also earned honors as a GCAA All-Region First Team and All Freshman-Team selection.

Jones from Augusta, Ga., (Glen Hills High School) had a well-rounded freshman campaign for the Titans. The six-foot-eight power forward averaged 18.5 points, 6.6 rebounds, earned a season totals of 26 blocks, and 25 steals over the 30-game season.

After the news was released POTY (Player of The Year) Jones was humbled by this honor and had this to say about what it took to get here and what it means to him.

"Once you know what failure feels like, determination chases success. No matter how hard the road is, enjoy it because “Good things come to those who wait,” said Jones.

Jones committed this season to making himself into the best player he could be. He has some trials in his career but getting to play after sitting out for two long years gave Jones the drive to make a big impact on the season.

“Winning POTY means everything to me because I love giving others confidence and inspiring someone else's life.”

Jones gives thanks and appreciation to all his family and coaches for all their undying support to help him get his confidence back to win this award for the game he loves.

“I am appreciative and honored to be selected as GCAA Men’s Player of the Year. Thank you everyone at CGTC for their support, it’s been nothing but love here.”

Jones is a Sports and Fitness Mangement student.

The Athletics Department extends congratulations to Jones for his accomplishments and looks forward to his continued academic and athletic success.
