CGTC Titans Defeat No. 21 South Georgia State in Conference Matchup

Macon, GA – The Central Georgia Technical College (CGTC) Titans (9-6, 2-0) earned a major conference victory on Wednesday night as they defeated South Georgia State College 70-53. Going into the game, South Georgia State was ranked No. 21 in National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division I men's basketball.

Coming off a recent victory against conference foe South Georgia Technical College, the Titans entered the bout against the South Georgia State Hawks with eagerness, yet a strong sense of focus.

Keying in on their defensive prowess, the Titans held South Georgia State to a season-low 53 points, well short of their 84.9 points per game average this season.

"It was a solid defensive effort and our guys showed great game plan discipline," said Titans head coach, Reco Dawson.

Leading all scorers was CGTC freshman guard, Montavious Terrell, who finished the night with a career-high 21 points, six rebounds, and two assists. Taking control on the offensive side of the ball, Terrell shot 4-7 from beyond the arc and 5-6 from the free throw line.

Other key scorers for the Titans were freshmen Justin Tene, who finished with 12 points, four rebounds, one steal, and two blocks, and Truitt Spencer with 10 points, one rebound, two assists, and three steals.

Sophomore center Cristiano Gomes also came up big for the Titans in the paint with a game-high eight rebounds.

The Titans look to extend their win streak on Saturday, January 11 at 3:00 p.m. at Titans Arena in Macon when they host Albany Technical College.
