Women’s Basketball Adds Faren Harris to Coaching Staff

Faren Harris. Women's Basketball Assistant Coach.

Macon, GA – The Central Georgia Technical College (CGTC) Athletics Department is pleased to announce the addition of Faren Harris as the women's basketball assistant coach.

"It is such a blessing to have coached Faren in AAU, middle school, and high school; and to now have her as an assistant coach is a dream come true," said Antonio Harris, CGTC's women's basketball head coach. "It's an honor and privilege for a parent to have their child work alongside them. I look forward to many successful seasons and expect great things to come with Faren coaching and mentoring our student-athletes."

A native of Macon, Harris graduated from Tattnall Square Academy where she was a three-sport letterman in basketball (three-time All-State player, two-time Team State Runner-Up, and USA Jr. National MVP), track and field (State Champion in long jump and triple jump), and cross country (state qualifier).

Harris attended Darton State College on a basketball scholarship, where she was coached by Olympic gold medalist Lea Henry. During her time at Darton, Harris was instrumental in the team's Georgia Collegiate Athletic Association runner-up title.

Guided by her passion for basketball and serving others, Harris previously served as a mentor and coach for the Macon United girls basketball team.

"I am appreciative of this opportunity to serve as the women's basketball assistant coach here at Central Georgia Technical College with my father," said Harris. "Under Coach Harris' tutelage I am expecting nothing but excellence. Coaching young women on and off the court through this game called life is a passion we share."

Harris graduated from the American Military University with an Associate's degree in Interdisciplinary Studies.
