CGTC Men's Basketball Takes 6-Game Winning Streak into the New Year

MACON, Ga. – The Central Georgia Technical College (CGTC) Titans Men's Basketball team has wrapped up the first half of the 2024 season with an impressive 7-2 record and enters the new year on a six-game winning streak.

The Titans have recorded dominant victories against Omega Sports Academy (90-45), Florida Southwestern State College (60-55), Miami Dade College (67-61), New Rock Prep (95-51), Action Sports Academy (137-44), and Florida Gateway College (84-51).

Through nine games, the Titans have averaged 82 points per game, 42.3 rebounds per game, and 15.8 assists per game, showing strong offensive and defensive play throughout the season.

Sophomore Christain Torres said the sustained success

"I feel like the season has been going great," said sophomore Guard, Christain Torres about the sustained success. "We’ve been winning games, and I’m looking forward to coming back after the New Year with the goal of winning the Conference Championship!"

Devon Robinson, freshman forward, agrees that that season is going well and credits their comradery as a team.

“I love these guys; they are like my family,” he said. “We’re excited to come back in 2025 and keep the momentum going."

At the core of the Titans success this season is player development, according to head coach, Gerald Fitch. This time last season, the Titans were 4-8, with some tough, close losses, and scoring just 76 points per game.

"It’s all about teaching the game day by day,” Fitch said. “When we return, we’ll start conference play, and my goal is to teach the players the skills they need to succeed in conference."

The Titans will resume their season on January 4th with an away game against Tallahassee State College at 3 p.m.

Their first home game of the new year will take place on January 8th at 7:30 p.m., when the team faces South Georgia State College in the first conference game of the season at Titans Arena in Macon, Ga.

The Titans look forward to continuing their successful season as they return to action in January. Don’t miss out on the exciting matchup as CGTC faces off against South Georgia State College in the first home conference game of the season.
