
CGTC Women's Soccer Earns First Victory Against Wesleyan College, Men Fall to Trinity Baptist in Saturday Matches
Warner Robins, GA – Central Georgia Technical College (CGTC) Women’s Soccer (1-0, 0-0)
achieved a first this weekend with a 6–0 win over the Wesleyan College Wolves, on Saturday,
August 24.
The win is a regular season non-conference victory. The program's first win comes during the
inaugural season for both the men's and women's soccer teams.
The historic first goal came just 8 minutes into the first half, when forward Rosacecilia Lopez
Sanchez (No. 13) found the bottom left corner of the net with an assist from forward Dani
Mincey (No. 7).
Following Lopez’s lead, Laura Bautista (No. 8) added back-to-back goals (14’, 23’) in the first half
scoring on the left side of goal from a low cross from Lopez and then a low, left center strike
from a second Lopez assist.
The second half continued the Lady Titans’ dominance. Lopez scored her second goal of the
match at the 65th minute, with an assist from Lucia Reyes (No. 6), launching a powerful strike
from 22 yards out. The fourth goal came at 80 minutes when Citlali Alcantar (No.4) connected on
a 35-yard strike, assisted by Karen Gallardo (No. 10).
The final goal of the match, sealing the Lady Titans’ historic victory, was scored by defensive
midfielder, Lucia Reyes, (No. 6) at the 86th minute with an assist from Sherlyn Sanchez (No.5), on
a cross in front of goal from the right side of the 18-yard box.
“This extraordinary win will forever be remembered as the first victory in CGTC history for both
our programs,” said head coach Kike Fuentes-Duarte. “It sets a strong foundation for both the
men's and women's teams and gives our community a big sense of pride. I look forward to our
program building off this momentum and continuing to make history.”
The Titans men’s team (0-2, 0-0) fell 6-1 at home to the Trinity Baptist College Eagles out of
Jacksonville, FL. Forward, Christian Spielman (No. 11), netted the first goal in the 9th minute for
the men’s program on a right-side strike to beat the Eagles goalkeeper low, before the Eagles
asserted their control over the game late in the first half.
The Lady Titans are back in action for their inaugural home game against Gordon State College at
6 p.m. on Wednesday, August 28. This marks the first conference game of the season.
The men have a week off from competition and return on September 3 away at Denmark
Technical College in Denmark, South Carolina.
