CGTC Men's Cross Country Team Wins MGA Invitational

Macon – In a field of six colleges, the Central Georgia Technical College (CGTC) Men's Cross Country team took home a first place finish in the MGA Invitational on Saturday.

In their first season back after a year-long break from competition, the Titans were able to edge out runners from Brewton-Parker College, LaGrange College, Georgia Military College, Paine College, and Clark Atlanta University.

The Titans finished the 8k meet in a total time of 2:43:42, following great Top-10 performances from freshmen Tim Feezor (3rd place), Joseph Everette (5th place) and Adriel McDonald (9th place).

Rounding out the Top-25 finishers in the invitational for the Titans were Navarre Kemp (11th place), Jonta Tarver (15th place) and Patten Barham (22nd place).

"They've been working hard all summer and it really paid off in the first meet," said CGTC Cross Country head coach Craig Lawson. "Most of our runners hit personal records. Having five of the guys finish top 15 and thre in the top 10 was incredible."

Now looking forward to their next meet, "We have to battle against complacency and carry this momentum over into the GMC meet," said Lawson.

The Titans will return to the course on Friday, September 13 in the GMC Brickyard Invitational at Council Farms in Milledgeville. The meet is slated for a 6:40 p.m. start time.
